Coconut Custard Pie

Grace Hallamore tried this recipe last wednesday and we tasted it. It tasted good like any other pie. Tasted like leche flan and Maja Blanca because of the milk and its sweetness but you can really taste the coconut in it. I'll try it someday as a dessert.

4 eggs
2 cups milk
1 cup sugar
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
½ cup flour
½ cup butter, room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup shredded coconut

1. Preheat oven to 350F. Grease 1 10-inch pie plate.
2. Combine eggs, milk, sugar, salt, nutmeg, flour, butter, vanilla, and coconut in a blender. Blend for 10 seconds, to make a lumpy mixture.
3. Pour mixture into pie plate. Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Cool and chill before serving. Make 8 to 10 servings.

Do you enjoy bird watching? I do. Whenever we are in a place full of trees, birds are everywhere. One property that we visited one time has a lot of birds like hummingbirds in the backyard. The owner left some water on the bird feeder. I was thinking that I would like to have one so I can place it in our front yard for birds to stop by and be fed with food and water. I could be an ornithologist then. I just realized that this is the technical term for bird watchers. Ornithologist comes from the greek words "ornis" and ""logos" which means bird and knowledge respectively. So you want to be an Ornitholo-what-a-gist? I mean Ornithologist? Start now by buying a bird feeder to attract the birds so you can watch them. Visit the link that I have provided, they offer bird feeders that you need. Below is the video I took of a mockingbird. It seemed very thirsty that was why I didn't catch it to be cooked for dinner. Just kidding...

Need help for Door to door moving?

Moving is very stressful especially if you don't have enough people to help you move. We tried it before and it was really tiring. If only I have known ABF U-Pack Moving before which offers a door to door moving and door to door storage service. According to their site, "ABF U-Pack Moving is a "you pack, they drive" moving service. ABF delivers a trailer or ReloCube (moving container) to the customer's location. The customer loads. ABF picks it up and delivers it to the new location and the customer unloads. Prices are comparable to rental truck prices for long distance moves - but ABF does all of the driving. Less expensive than a full service mover but more convenient than a rental truck. ABF U-Pack is in good standing with the Better Business Bureau and has a great rating with consumer opinion sites like and"

Looking Forward to Have My own Domain Name

Yes, I really need to have my own domain name. Maybe later when my page rank is changed to zero. I hope not. I can have a domain name anytime but I need to finalize my layout and template first. Also I am reading web hosting reviews for me to choose which web hosting site is best. I came across with this new and fully dynamic web hosting rating and review site which is really helpful to me. You should visit this site too especially if you are also planning to have your own domain name. They have articles for you to read and learn. They have tips for choosing a domain name which is helpful and very informative. The ratings and reviews that they have help us decide which web hosting sites give better services. When you have decided which one, you will be using the service for about a year and you can change your web host then if you decide to have it hosted with a different company. I like to use one company for life that is why I want to choose the best one before letting my domain name to be hosted permanently. It would be a hassle for me changing web hosts and looking for best ones again.

Pakbet (Ilokano)

Pinakbet or Pakbet is a popular Pilipino dish from the northern region of the Philippines called Ilocos. It's where Mrs. Imelda Marcos' husband came from. The origin of the word is "pinakebet"...all shrivelled. The authentic Ilokano recipe calls for bagoong (fermented fish sauce), and ampalaya (bitter melon). Below was a Pakbet dish cooked by a friend Violy. This is her recipe and hope you like it. My husband doesn't eat salted fish but he has tried this and liked it. He didn't know that there was salted fish added, he thought it was all vegetables and soy sauce. If he knew, I bet he would never try to taste it LOL Below is the recipe. You may add 2 or more of each vegetable below according to your desired taste.

Bittermelon (ampalaya)
String Beans
Sweet Potatoes
Pork Spare Ribs or any pork meat with bones (you may use strips of pork)
Salted Fish (Bagoong)
Salt to taste
1 cup water (optional)
garlic, minced
You may add squash

1) In a deep saucepan, saute tomatoes, minced cloves of garlic, and slices of medium onion.

2) Add pork. Cook until tender. Then add salted fish and water.

3) Add all sliced vegetables and stir. Simmer until shrivelled. Serve on rice.

Applebee's Lemonade and Applebee's Club House Grill Sandwich

Try this mouth-watering sandwich and lemonade. Hubby and I love club house sandwich and lemonade. We prefer lemonade than soda or water if there is no lemonade. Also, we luke the taste of the sandwich. I remember when we visited Cebu, we ordered a clubhouse sandwich there. It was really good. That was the last food we ate together before he left Philippines. Quite memorable for me.

Applebee's Lemonade
1 Quart water
1 Cup sugar
1 Cup FRESH lemon juice
Sparkling Water (not tonic water, like Perrier)

Mix first three togther. Fill a tall glass 2/3 to
3/4 with Lemon mixture then fill with sparkling water.
An intresting variation is to puree some fruit
(raspberries, strawberries, etc) with a little
superfine or powdered sugar and put that in the
glass before adding the the lemonade and water.

Applebee's Club House Grill Sandwich

2 thick slices of french bread
softened butter
1/3 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 slices deli turkey breast
2 slices deli ham
2 slices tomato
2 tsps. bullseye barbecue sauce

Butter one slice of bread and put butter side down into preheated skillet,
on medium heat. Spread the up side of the slice with mayo. Sprinkle on half
of cheese. Heat the turkey and ham slices in the same skillet for about 30
seconds. Lay the turkey on the cheese, then the tomato. Spread bbq sauce
over tomato, then lay on the ham, sprinkle the rest of the cheese over ham.
Butter the second slice of bread on one side and put on top, with butter
side up. The first bread slice should be brown, flip sandwich over and brown
the second side for 2−3 minutes, or till golden brown. Remove from skillet,
cut in half diagonally and serve with additional bbq sauce.

Since I can't afford surgery or hire a diet instructor, I would visit as for now the site and learn more about dieting and how this to take effect.

Applebee's Blonde Brownies

The last time I cooked brownies, it was overcooked. It was supposedly soft because air will make it harder if you want it to serve on the table uncovered. I remember Mary, she told me that inorder to keep the moisture on it, we should cover the brownies with sliced bread. I haven't tried it but I will. My husband just asked me to seal it in plastics to keep it soft but when we ate it, it was as hard as Philippine stick bread. Still tasted good, the kids even ate it still with milk. Below is Applebee's Blonde Brownies recipe. Enjoy!

2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
3 /4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 1/4 sticks unsalted butter (10 Tbsp.)
2 cups packed golden brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
3/4 cup chocolate chips
3/4 cup chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Flour and butter a 9 x13 x 2 pan.
Sift flour into a bowl. Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and baking
soda. Set aside. Melt butter. In mixing bowl, place melted butter
and add sugar, mixing well. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing well.
Add flour slowly, blending. Batter will be slightly thick.
Spread in pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips and pecans over all.
Bake for 25 − 30 minutes.

Sausage and Pork & Beans

This is one of our favorite quick dinners. Instead of hotdog, we grilled sausages and heated pork and beans. We cute the sausage halfway, that is how hubby grill sausages.

We put first some sweet relish and mustard on the hotdog buns, then placed sliced cheese and the grilled sausaged. We then topped it with our heated pork and beans. You may put more mustard on top of it. We like eating it with chili peppers...mmmm yummy!

Host Rating Site

I was planning to get my own domain name for my kitchen but I was afraid that I will lose my page rank and wait again for another few months to get it back. Having my own domain is important. I remember when I attended a seminar-workshop on web designing, our instructor said that people were encouraged to have their own site in their own domain. Having a name under one website was discouraged then. Web hosting rating website can help users to decide where to host one's domain name. They have top 10 web hosting providers or best web hosts. This website also has articles that will help people understand about web hostings and more. I like their tips for choosing a domain. Try to visit the site and learn more.

International Oddities Products

International Oddities non-tobacco legal bud smoking products have been used in the movie Pineapple Express. They used it as a prop but it is not really made for that purpose. These products are real products and were used in nearly every scene of the movie. The International Oddities smoking line is so unique and innovative. If you visit the website, you can see different appearances and names. It might be cool to users but for me, I find it colorful and artistic. It looks like seaweeds. If my Grandpa is here, he might have tried this. He smokes and uses herbal cigarettes. He has always rolling papers for his tobaccos too. he would be proud to have tried this since these products had been used by Hollywood actors and actresses in the movie. He might feel as one of them too. It's normal for people who brags about something famous and I bet he will. I read also the site testimonials and the people who were using it were satisfied. I would like to try that herbal cigarette which is their new product for my grandpa and my uncles. They will surely like that. My husband does not smoke so I can not buy one for him. I don't smoke too. So only Grandpa and my uncles. You may try it too.

Filipino-Style Sweet Blend Spaghetti

This is easy. You just need to buy packs of sweet blend Filipino Style spaghetti sauce. You can buy it at any Filipino or Asian Store. The sauce is cooked with minced garlic, onion, red bell pepper and ground beef. Cooking is easy. The pasta is cooked according to the package direction and the ground beef is cooked first without adding oil. I drained it and cooked the other ingredients on oil (1 tbsp). Then add the ground beef and the spaghetti sauce. You may add black pepper if you want to make it spicy. You may add hotdog or sausages too. When cooked, you can put sauce on top of the pasta with grated cheese or mix the pasta with the sauce in a pan. Serve hot :)
